Read on below for some insight into making the video from Sean himself.
“In 2015 I moved from Long Beach to Stockholm for work, spent a lot of time skating around the city and ended up meeting some great people. Back home I made a couple videos but hadn’t planned to do any more – then a friend convinced me to start filming again in August 2016. I bought a used Panasonic HMC151 and started bringing it to every session, contributed a couple clips to friends’ video parts, then winter started and street skating got put on hold.
Stockholm has some great filmers right now; William Engström has put together some amazing full-lengths, Makke Bengtson makes sick videos with the Fat Team crew, Fritte Söderström is one of the best follow filmers out – I just wanted to help put my friends on and document this era of skating in the city. And also try to capture what seems to me like a tense time in the capital of Sweden – it’s a unique place that’s harsh and welcoming in equal measure.
So when spring came around we were out street skating again every weekend, and I was taking my camera to work every day and going out afterwards. In the summer it doesn’t get dark till 11pm so we go skate for 5+ hours a day, even if it’s only for a few months. I initially wanted to get a 10 minute clip together and put it out at the end of the fall, but we kept skating outside and eventually indoors at parking garage spots. I spent some time off around Christmas back home in the states, did the bulk of the editing out there and finished up the video last week right before the premiere. Big thanks to the Honorable Sir Axel Lindquist for putting that on – and I just wanna give a major shoutout to Mackan at Riche! Incredible night.
Long story short, I made this video to show off my friends & the city of Stockholm – it’s 30 minutes broken up into a couple shared sections, some montages, and full parts from Oskar Wennberg, David Jakinda, and my most favorite skateboarder Vincent Huhta-Hasselberg.”
