Trelogy is a new international skateboarding event in Tampere Finland. It’s a weekend long mash up of the Skate SM aka the Finnish championships, Manserama bowl carnage and HELride best tricks in the old factory area in Lielahti.
There was a whole new street course built for the championships, food trucks, premieres, photo exhibitions, after parties and a fair full of skate brands. And it’s not a coincidence that the Finnish biggest indoor concrete bowl section Kenneli DIY lies right next door!
The above video is of Friday’s madness at the Mans-E-Rama bowl event, hosted at the aforementioned Kenneli DIY bowl.
The Kenneli Bowl is the largest indoor concrete bowl in Finland, and was officially opened last year. The construction project both employed and trained a number of people interested in skatepark construction. So as well as providing skateboarders with an indoor place to skate, they were also able to pass on the knowledge of construction too, not bad eh?
It wasn’t much of a surprise to see both Chris Russell and Willis Kimbel getting in the mix – the two are no strangers to Scandinavian concrete and predictably tore up the Tampere transitions in their own unique ways.
Frequenters of the skateboarder’s paradise that is Copenhagen will recognise local rippers Ginger and Bjorn Lillesoe, big airs and high speeds are always a good watch, and these two never fail to provide that.
I was personally a fan of the 90’s Tom Penny cosplayer, Jere Kajan, even if just for those green trousers. The give a fuck approach of bearded Jani Mäkela also stands out, wallride grabbing to flat and then exiting to bowl was a particularly nice touch.
The results from the competition:
1. Chris Russell
2. Björn Lillesoe
3. Simon Karlsson
