Phil Zwijsen is a goofy footed street shredder, riding for Carhartt WIP, Vans Europe, Monster Energy Drink, Element Europe, Eastpak, Lockwood Skateshop, Rockers Wheels and Area 51 Skatepark. The first ever pro skateboarder to come out of Belgium, he has competed in contests around the world, and in 2010 he took first in both the street and best trick competitions at the Telekom Extreme Playground event.
In January 2014, his part featured in the compelling Carhartt video Time Chase, also featuring Bram De Cleen, Rob Smith and Ross McGouran, to coincide with a 14-page feature on Phil in Kingpin. Shot in black and white by Paul Labadie and edited by Vincent Guillermin, the video shows the team taking on some of Europe’s slickest skate spots with a series of striking tricks, mixed in with humorous graphics.
Phil was born on 25th August 1986 in Antwerp, Belgium. Originally inspired by his brother, he has been skating now for almost ten years, developing his skills at the Edegem skate park. He won the Euro Skate Championships at the age of 23, and he has been killing it ever since, despite breaking an ankle shortly after turning pro with Carhartt in 2009.
With speed and creativity to burn, Phil’s career is only just beginning – he is a one-of-a-kind, a chameleon, able to adapt to any environment and any skate spot thrown at him. His life is seemingly one long road trip – recently he has visited countries as varied as Italy, Spain, Thailand, China, Cuba and Peru.
