Spaniard Jesus Fernandez is not only a pro for Lakai Footwear, but also skates for Chocolate Skateboards, Royal Trucks, Matix, Hubba, Mosaic Bearings, and Madrid’s Stance Skateshop. After featuring in videos such as Neighbourhood Skateboards’ LaLa Land (1998), L.A. County (2000), Girl’s Yeah Right! (2003) and the first Square Films video No Place Like Home (2005), Jesus’s appearance in Lakai’s Fully Flared in 2007 gave him extra motivation for skating.
Since then, he has continued working with Lakai, appearing in The Final Flare! documentary from 2008 and tour videos such as Fully Trippin’ in Malaga (2008) and Voltage (2010). For Girl/Chocolate, he has appeared in the We’re OK, EurOK tour video from 2007 and Pretty Sweet, released in 2012.
Jesus was born in Madrid, but soon outgrew his hometown and moved to Barcelona and thrived in the skate playground that he found there. Inspired by Spanish technical skaters such as Sergio (‘el Nano’) Bernabeu, Esteban Velarde and Rodrigo Rodriguez, he then did a stint in Los Angeles, where his skills caught the eye of the Chocolate family, and despite moving back to Spain, it became an obvious decision to add him to the Lakai and Chocolate teams.
As a youngster, he gained his motivation from watching mid-nineties skate videos and then putting his own twist on what he saw, With magical ledge skills, the ability to innovate along the way, and the desire to film on a regular basis, he certainly fits in well at Lakai.
