Nike SB Europe present Barcelona, a new seventeen minute edit showcasing some of Nike SB's best European riders.
Spaniard Javier Sarmiento made his video debut back in 1999, when he appeared in Powell Skateboard’s Magic, following that up the next year with the Powell/Bones Bearing tie-up Class of 2000. Riding for The Firm, he appeared in the full-length film Can’t Stop (2003) and the tour video Riding Shotgun with Wieger in 2004.
He made his debut for SK8MAFIA in 2010 in the Best of 2010 promo, and also popped up in the full-length SK8MAFIA Video from 2011 alongside riders such as Wes Kremer, Tyler Surrey and Larelle Gray. He’s featured in a number of videos for éS, including the 2007 promo eSpecial, and the tour videos You, éS, Eh? (2008), The Great éScape (2009) and To Europe With Love (2010).
Javier was born on 14th April 1980 in the Barcelona satellite town of Esplugues de Llobregat, but soon moved to Barcelona itself in search of better skating opportunities. He is currently sponsored by SK8MAFIA, Ricta Wheels, Volcom, Nixon, Diamond Supply Co and Madrid’s Stance Skate Shop.
There is no doubt that Javier has become one of Europe’s prime technical street skaters, and perhaps the greatest skater that Spain has ever produced. His smooth style makes it hard to tell if he is riding normal or switch, illustrated by his shared part with Erik J Pettersson in the SK8MAFIA/Sweet collaboration Stee in 2013, which was quickly heralded as the best part in the entire video.
