American Grant Taylor is a pro for the Nike SB team, and also boasts sponsors from some of the biggest names in the game including Anti-Hero Skateboards, Volcom, Independent, Stratosphere skateshop, Spitfire Wheels and Modus. He made his debut for Nike in the 2004 promo On Tap, and has since appeared in many videos for the company including Nothing But The Truth (2007), Debacle (2009), Don’t Fear The Sweeper (2010) and The SB Chronicles Vol. 01 (2011).
He also starred in 2009’s Mind Field for previous board sponsor Alien Workshop, and has a long history of collaboration with Thrasher magazine, featuring in the King of the Road contest videos from 2010, 2011 and 2012, Thrash & Burn (2011) and Killing Time (2011). The biggest moment of his career so far came in 2011, when he won Thrasher’s coveted Skater of the Year award.
Grant was born in Atlanta, Georgia on 31st October 1991, and has made spectacular progress in a short space of time. The son of former professional skateboarder Thomas Taylor (the founder of Stratosphere, Atlanta’s first skateshop), he began competing in amateur competitions in the early 2000s, and took second place at the 2004 Phoenix Am.
Grant represents a new breed of skateboarder, one which blends the style of today’s skatepark champions with the older traditions of transitional skating. With huge airs and an aggressive dash of modern street skating, he is as versatile as they come – anytime and anywhere, you can be sure that GT can handle it.
