For over a decade, half-French, half-German Florentin ‘Flo’ Marfaing has been one of Europe’s leading skaters. Sponsored by French/Brazilian company Blaze, Satori Wheels, Zeropolis Skateshop, Okapi Caps and his own company Souljah Griptape, Florentin has also travelled around the world as part of the Vans pro skate team, including trips to the USA, China and Brazil.
Formerly part of the Santa Cruz Skateboards team, he appeared in the company’s 2005 tour video Out There. Other highlights over the years include appearances in the Vans’ videos Pleased To Meet You (2005), Roll With Us (2008) and 1966 (2010), as well as parts in They Don’t Give A Fuck About Us! from Lordz in 2003 and independent films The Done Video (2009) and Texalona (2013).
Born in the French city of Caen on 15th November 1978, Flo grew up in Mülheim an der Ruhr in Germany, now divides his time between Norway (where his wife and daughter are based) and Barcelona, and spends much of his life travelling the world – he is truly an international skateboarder. He has been skating since the age of 14, inspired by his first sight of an ollie.
Flo is undoubtedly up amongst the greatest technical skaters that Europe has ever produced, with apparently limitless patience when trying manual tricks. Some of his manoeuvres have become legendary, such as a never-seen-before nollie crook down the enormous ‘Le Dome’ hubba in Paris in a Puzzle part from 2001.
