Brit Chris Oliver is one of the most consistent skateboarders in the country, picking up sponsorship deals with companies including Venture, Oakley, Blind, Skull Candy, Billabong and Ricta. In February 2012, he also joined the Superdead Skateboards team and was welcomed with an amazing edit shot at Tottenham’s concrete playground.
He is also part of the Vans Pro skate team, and for Relentless Energy, he put out the ‘Day in the Life’ clip in 2010, featuring a guest appearance from Ross McGouran, in which he visited his local spots in London, including London Bridge Plaza and Dalston’s ‘Jazz Square’.
Originally hailing from Bridport in Dorset, Chris is now based in London. Admiring riders such as Andy Scott, Greg Nowik, Mike Carroll, Zered Bassett and Todd Falcon, he learnt to skate with his friends from watching VHS videos, and then trying tricks out at the smoothest place in town – the local coachpark. Without a clue about sponsorship or contests, but with a passion for skating, he served his apprenticeship travelling around Spain for two years in the back of a Vauxhall Corsa, before winning the UK championships in 2009.
Ginger Chris is a monster of all terrain, who has constantly upped his game since the very first time he stepped on a deck. Growing up in a sleepy little town forced him to focus on something to distract him from the mundane lifestyle that surrounded him, and his natural skills and positive, down-to-earth outlook on life has made him into an exceptional skater.
