After a short bike ride from the Am contest at Fælledparken our crew rolled onto Guldbergsgade and were met by the sight of 50 people milling about drinking beers and enjoying the blazing hot weather before the Levis Best Trick got underway. After about 15 minutes of searching for beers in the pre-party melee, the crowd had quadrupled and the kids were already getting stuck in to the quarter pipe aspect of the best trick obstacle with fervour akin to hungry dogs. Early to arrive on scene were imported bar tenders Al Partanen and Chet Childress who have recently returned from their part in the Builders’ Jam II in Bangalore India. They were flown in to mix (and serve) punch (Al) to – and wave knives (Chet) at – people and to meet up with the Holy Stoked guys who had made the long journey from Bangalore to come and witness the shreddery.
Before long the entire street was rammed and people were perched on every available square metre, the music was blaring out and the drinks were flowing as the heavy hitters stepped up to tackle the obstacle in return for cash. As the sun began setting things were wrapped up contest wise and the event swiftly turned into a raging street party replete with B Boy-esque battle breakin’ out for no other reason than good times.
As the dancing turned descended into beer throwing the party turned from dance floor to outdoor nightclub and things got messier. To be honest I should probably stop there or I run the risk of making things up… Rest assured it was an awesome end to and awesome day and after that… well, very similar radness ensued for the next 5 days… Oi…
