Joseph Biais interview/video part from issue 119

Intro by Hub Gandolfe. Arty, fit and rock’n’roll, this is how I would describe Joseph if I had to do it with three words. He’s not exactly the sort of guy you’ll bump into fully dressed in white, sipping on something colourful at a David Guetta concert in Ibiza. You’re more likely to stumble upon him sipping whiskey in the dark corner of an old run-down biker pub in Detroit. He’s the guy who kicks the jukebox when he hears that it’s defying him by playing a love song. Because Joseph doesn’t really know love, the only two things he’s ever loved are the old Swiss army knife his good friend Hub brought back to him from Vietnam and the shitty guitar he keeps at the back of his truck. Well at least that’s the image he’s going for. When you sniff around his cupboards, listen to his iTunes or analyse his psychedelic art you realise that he’s not quite pulling it off. Joseph is really just a normal well-rounded human, a skateboarder that needs no introduction and most importantly (and anyone who knows him well enough won’t contradict me here) a friend you can rely on. A friend that’s up for having fun no matter what and who will always be there when you need him. Probably because deep down, underneath that leather jacket, “Black Jibs” has a sweet little heart. For having known him for almost six years and practically lived with the guy I can assure you that this attention is well deserved. Front board pop out. Photo: Loic Benoit.
