What better way to spend a sunny weekend than indoors asking stupid questions at Street League? We’ve all got our opinions on the world’s largest skateboarding spectacle, but one thing that everybody can agree on is that Street League is far too serious. To act as somewhat of an antidote to all that seriousness, after all this is skateboarding, we hit up some of the competitors with some stupid Q&A questions.

If you could pick any skateboarder from any era to compete at Street League who would you choose?
Harold Hunter for the energy.
How much would you need to be paid to focus someone’s board during the competition?
I would do it for 50 buckos.
Did you try to win or were you just here to get paid?
I’m there for the experience, the change of scenery, to check out the local skate spots, people and culture.
What’s the most stinking trick you saw go down? Name and shame please…
Myself, not landing a single trick. I didn’t watch much else, but everyone I saw was solid. No turkey flips or willie bag lady manoeuvres. Mostly A-Team performers.
Who’s the worst snake during practice?
No idea, I’m too in my own head when I skate to notice anyone snaking. I admire a good snake anyway. Get ahead ya know why not?!
Do you consider yourself an athlete or a skateboarder?
Child athlete turned skateboarder.
“I’d focus someone’s board for 50 buckos”
If you were able to enter like a WWE wrestler, what would your entrance music and costume be?
Run to the Hills by Iron Maiden and a full adidas tracksuit with tiger print and Gonz drawings, a tiger mask and gold chains.
What’s the weirdest contractual obligation you have to fulfil to skate this competition?
Skating inside when it’s beautiful outside, but that’s not contractual just happenstance. Other than that nothing, it’s chill.
Who was your favourite to watch this weekend?
Louie Lopez and Mason Silva
How did you find London beyond the Street League circus?
That’s all I found!
Southbank, crusty spots, rad architecture, great culture, tasty food, good weather – we got lucky I know! I love it!
What’s the deal with drugs testing at the event?
They briefed us on the upcoming anti-doping measures now that we are nearing the Olympics. It was a mandatory meeting for everyone, since the Olympics are not far out. Makes sense to tell everyone – some of those guys will be Olympians, it was long but somewhat informative.
Do you see SLS as the Olympics blueprint?
I suppose, as much as I wish it was more of a Dime Glory Challenge scenario, I don’t see that coming to fruition so yeah, SLS seems like it will be the Olympic standard.
What would your ideal skate competition look like?
One or two hours to film a video part at a spot, in a certain vicinity or even just around a section of the city. Best video part wins.
