The 10 Worst Skateboard Vlog Thumbnails 2016

A dissection of the most attention-seeking skateboard video thumbnails on YouTube

I’m really sorry about that title and image. But this is genuinely what a lot of skateboard content on YouTube has come to. The Skateboard Vlog, or video blog, has apparently taken over.

Part of the reason for this is that the authors have generated a lot of interest with their style of YouTube thumbnail.

The current trend in attention seeking, click-baity thumbnails has gradually filtered down from some of the most insufferable people on the internet to the world of Skateboard ‘Vlogging’.

Most of us claim to not watch any of these videos, yet a lot of them have huge play counts. So however cringe we think they are, we can’t argue that they’re getting results.

The image itself is often just a screengrab from a random clip that has nothing to do with the rest of the video. Like, the video will be 10 minutes of boring skatepark footage, but the thumbnail will be of a hot girl who appeared for five seconds. Then there’s the graphics… Ridiculous.

Let’s discuss the key characteristics.

Emojis everywhere…

Big arrows pointing at the thing you were already looking at.

Single words, questions or statements in massive capital letters.

A fail compilation.

Taking skateboard products out of a box.

Bottle flip challenge

Skating objects that aren’t skateboards.

Pulling a kooky face.

Small children skating.
