The Supra footwear company was launched in 2006 by Angel Cabada, who had previously founded the KR3W apparel brand. It is now backed by some of the most influential skaters of all time, and has also caught the attention of music industry big names such as Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake. Supra is distributed by One Distribution, and also owns three stores itself, in Paris, New York City and Santa Monica, California.
Currently featuring on its pro team are original members Erik Ellington, Jim Greco, Chad Muska and Tom Penny, plus newer recruits Terry Kennedy, Stevie Williams, Keelan Dadd, Spencer Hamilton, Lizard King, Ramiro ‘Furby’ Salcedo, Antwuan Dixon, Lucien Clarke, Neen Williams and Kevin Romar. There is also an am team made up of Boo Johnson, Nick Tucker and newcomer Pat Rumney.
Since its inception, Supra has put out some legendary shoes. One of the most famous is Muska’s iconic and much-imitated Skytop, a perfect example of a shoe built for skate and fashion (the Skytop II was rocked by Lil Wayne), which is now on its fourth version. There are also a number of famous signature models, such as Greco’s high performance, lightweight, low top Hammer, and Williams’ S1W.
Over the years, Supra have also released a series of top-quality tour videos, all available online, beginning with the Three Amigos Texas Tour in 2011 featuring Johnson, Dadd, Furby and Hamilton along with Cody McEntire, Horsey and JS Lapierre. This was followed by three European tour videos (including 2013’s heavy Slings and Hammers) and a 2013 Asia tour video.
