American company Bones Wheels specialises in high quality skateboard wheels, and also offers accessories, the ‘Evolution’ helmet (in conjunction with TSG) and apparel, including T-shirts, jackets, caps, beanies, belts and wallets. The company is based in Santa Barbara, California, and is distributed by Skate One.
The Bones range features wheels with diameters of between 49mm and 62mm, including two new Felipe Gustavo ‘Notorious’ signature models. Bones also produces high-performance, responsive HardCore Bushings which come in three hardnesses – hard, medium or soft. HardCore Bushings are described by the company as the first ‘double action’ truck bushings, with both sides of the bushing resisting the skater’s turning force.
Wheels are divided into a number of categories, with each category best suited to a particular type of surface. Street Tech Formula wheels, with a higher rebound for more speed and better slide capabilities while maintaining a resistance to flat spotting, are most popular, while All-Terrain Formula wheels are poured in a special soft urethane which makes them better for rougher terrain. Also popular is Skatepark Formula, a very high quality urethane specifically formulated to resist flatspotting on slick or smooth surfaces while maintaining a higher rebound.
The Bones Wheels pro team reads like a who’s who of modern skateboarding, featuring riders such as Aaron Homoki, Ben Raybourn, Chris Haslam, Elliot Sloan, Taylor Bingaman, Ronnie Creager, Ryan Decenzo and the legendary Tony Hawk. The Am team includes Aldrin Garcia, Josh Hawkins, Matt Berger and Trevor McClung.
