Adidas Skateboarding is a division of the German sportswear giant. Launched in 2006, it boasts that it is dedicated to footwear and apparel ‘designed by skateboarders for skateboarders’. The adidas team is packed full of some of world’s finest skateboarding talent, including Dennis Busenitz, Silas Baxter-Neal, Lucas Puig, Rodrigo TX, Peter Eldridge, Benny Fairfax and Nestor Judkins.
Among the teams other well-known faces is skateboarding legend Mark Gonzales who has been using adidas footwear for over 15 years. Also in the team are Global Ams including Mark Suciu Lem Villemin and Vince del Valle, and International Pros from countries including the UK, the Czech Republic, Brazil and Spain. Busenitz, Judkins, Villemin and Fairfax, along with Tim O’Connor and Dave Bachinsky, all starred in the 2008 release A Five Day Excursion To Paris, one of adidas’s most famous films.
Adidas skate shoes include many redesigns of shoes that adidas made pre-2006 – the most famous is the low-top ‘Campus Vulc’, which takes one of the most iconic sneakers ever created and gets it ready for skating with an all-suede build, comfortable textile lining and vulcanized outsole for durability and grip.
There are also a number of signature models such as the ‘Busenitz’, the result of a close, ongoing collaboration with adidas’ leading rider, which takes the legendary ‘Copa Mundial’ and makes it skate-ready. Another popular signature shoe is the ‘Gonz’ which comes in two models – the low-top Pro and the comfortable Slip-on.
