[part title=”Tom Knox in Eleventh Hour”]
The funny thing with this one is that we released it on the same day as what many consider to the gnarliest video part in history: Nyjah Huston’s Fade To Black part. I’m sure a lot of people must’ve thought it quite a daft move but in retrospect I’m quite happy we picked that day. Firstly because if we’d waited any longer it would probably have been leaked before we could have got it out there. Secondly because it represents the skateboarding we truly believe in. The skateboarding that actually involves thinking about spots, trick selection and line construction rather that simply pushing back the boundaries of what’s technically/physically possible. Basically it was a good way for us to remind people that there’s still hope for skateboarding in this day and age. There’s still more to what we love than Nyjah’s red trousers and Californian crook nollie late flips.
That being said I did find Nyjah’s part really entertaining, only kind of in the same way you’d be entertained by the “crazy” base jump video that relentlessly pops up in your facebook feed. It didn’t really make me want to go street skating with my friends.
