Ripper Oscar Candon hit the headlines towards the end of 2012, when it was announced that he was to join Eniz Fazliov and Rob Maatman on the Emerica Europe team. To coincide with the announcement, Emerica released a great part featuring Oscar in Barcelona, the southern French city of Perpignan and Paris.
In recent years Oscar has been on Emerica trips to Athens and to the UK for The Big Push, where he visited Liverpool and Manchester with Fazliov, Maatman, Tom Knox, Casper Brooker and Kyron Davis. His video releases include the French independent films Frame By Frame (2010) and Fonds de Tiroir (2013), as well as New Sheet from griptape company Ashes. Now riding for the re-launched French company Trauma Skateboards, he appeared in the company’s full-length release from 2011, La Deca-Danse.
Oscar was born in Montpellier, France and moved to Washington DC when he was seven years old where he began skateboarding. However, after the family was deported for ‘not paying some taxes’, he soon returned to France, moving into his Swedish grandmother’s house in Meudon, a small town ten minutes outside of Paris, where he still lives today.
After developing his skills at the Meudon skatepark, and then at the Chelles skatepark with Rémy Taveira, he has developed into one of the most colourful characters on the Parisian skate scene. Always on the go, in 2012 alone he visited Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Malmö, Berlin, Ljubljana, Zagreb and Vienna with his crew, which includes skaters such as Taveira and Benoît Renaux.
